Google Chromecast is the easy way to entertainment online video and anything from the web on your Smart TV. Plug it into any Smart HDTV and control it with your existing smartphone, tablet, or laptop computer. Google Chromecast works with devices you already own, including Android tablets and smartphones, iPhones, iPads, Chrome for Mac and Chrome for Windows. Browse for what to watch, control playback, and adjust volume using your device. You won’t have to learn anything new. Deliver your favorites from Google Play, YouTube, Netflix, and Chrome to your TV with the press of a button. No more huddling around small screens and small speakers. Google Chromecast automatically updates to work with a expanding number of applications. With Google Chromecast, you can easily enjoy your favorite online content on your HDTV movies, TV shows, videos, songs, pictures, web, and more from Netflix, YouTube, Google Play, and Chrome.
Plug Google Chromecast into any HDTV, connect it to WiFi, then send movies and more from your smartphone, tablet or notebook to your TV. Friends and family members can use your Google Chromecast with their Smartphone, Android Tablet, or Laptop without any additional setup. The Google Chromecast is deceptively easy, you plug it into your TV, then stream video and music to it from applications operating on your Iphone, Android device, or laptop. The Chromecast itself has no remote whatever device you’re streaming from is the remote. The Google Chromecast has next to no user interface of its own, either it’s got a single screen that shows the time and whether or not it’s connected to your WiFi that appears when nothing is being streamed, but again, the device you’re streaming from largely acts as the interface.
The Google Chromecast is a wireless portal to your TV, and doesn’t try to be anything more. Despite the best efforts of Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, LG and others, most of the televisions in people’s homes these days are not of the smart variety. However, there are hundreds of millions of regular televisions packing HDMI ports, and Google’s new Chromecast device provides a way to put some brains into those dumb TVs by providing them access to web-based content. Having a Chromecast dongle connected to your TV indicates you can stream videos straight from a Google Play, Netflix or YouTube application, or mirror the content in any open tab in Google’s Chrome browser using a tab casting feature.
It's a start
I believe that Google primarily intends to use Chromecast to increase its user share for its Chrome browser on all platforms. Whether it makes a profit for Google is not a primary objective of its marketing strategy.
